Bangkok Bank in the semis

[BASKETBALL] The in-form Bangkok Bank, powered by Boonchai Ritthipanyawong, stormed past Royal Thai Air Force yesterday to secure a semi-final berth in the King's Cup Division A Basketball Championship at Siam University Gymnasium.

Against the much stronger rivals, the RTAF kept the bankmen off rhythm to lead 18-16 in the first quarter. However, the bankers regrouped and roared back to catch up with them at 26 before stretching the lead to 38-26.

Boonchai Ritthipanyawong scored 25 points including a three-pointer as the Bangkok Bank posted an 84-56 victory over the Royal Thai Air Force in Group B.

The Bangkok Bank have four straight wins, while the Royal Thai Air Force will battle the SK Polymate for the third place in the group and also a place in the semi-finals.

In another men's match, favourites and reigning champions Hi-Tech gave Sirichai Oil no chance to score and forced them to call a technical timeout at 10-0 in the first quarter.

The Hi-Tech maintained their form throughout the game to thrash their rivals 91-45.

Both Hi-Tech and Sirichai Oil have two wins against one loss.

In the women's competition, Ruk Nam Jai Club beat Kasembundhit University 42-37.
