Transitional leader : Chidchai denies 'acting PM' role is unconstitutional

Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Chidchai Vanasatidya yesterday rejected critics' claims that his serving as acting prime minister was unconstitutional.
He said Thaksin Shinawatra was still serving as caretaker prime minister and receiving a salary for the post - not himself. Earlier, critics pointed out that the Constitution requires that the prime minister be an elected MP, which Chidchai is not. - The Nation.Senate poll : Probes delay endorsements It was uncertain yesterday whether the Election Commission (EC) would be able to endorse the newly elected senators today, the commission's secretary-general said yesterday. Legal wrangling : PAD, Caravan of Poor 'charges soon' The cases against the Caravan of the Poor and the five leaders of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) would be sent to prosecutors by the end of this month, the police spokesman said yesterday. Pol Lt-Gen Ajiravid Subarnbhesaj said police were investigating the case against the Caravan of the Poor, which besieged the office complex that houses The Nation and its sister newspapers Kom Chad Luek and Krungthep Turakij in late March. Investigations were also underway into lese majeste charges against PAD leader Sondhi Limthongkul, and against the five PAD leaders for "harming national security and obstructing traffic". - The Nation.
