Briton, 47, shot dead in Pattaya

An Englishman was shot dead and robbed by four men on two motorcycles in Pattaya early yesterday morning.

Steven Parkinson, 47, was pronounced dead after being shot twice in the face at 3.20am while riding with a Thai woman around a reservoir at Bang Lamung.

Police said the woman, Sujittra Katekaew, 32, was in shock and that the four men had spared her after she begged them not to shoot.

The killers allegedly took Bt40,000 in cash from her purse, her valuables and an unknown amount of cash from Parkinson's trouser pockets before fleeing.

Sujittra said she could not identify the four men because they wore helmets or hats.

Bang Lamung police chief Colonel Nopphadol Sornsamran said the robbers could have been local teenagers, because they quickly fled the scene and avoided regular police patrols.
