Photographer Kraithip's images mark 60 years on throne for world's longest serving monarch
A series of special stamps with portraits of His Majesty the King will be issued to mark the 60th anniversary of His Majesty's accession to the throne this year, an official at Thailand Post said yesterday. The first collection consists of six Bt3 stamps showing His Majesty wearing a suit in various poses taken by veteran photographer Kraithip Phanwutthi, who followed the King across the country as he performed his royal duties. One million copies of this collection will be issued. It goes on sale on Friday. The second issue is of a single Bt100 stamp featuring real gold showing His Majesty in his coronation gown. It will be the largest stamp ever issued in the country, the official said, although he did not disclose the exact dimensions. A total of 1.2 million copies will be issued, and it will go on sale on June 9, the 60th anniversary of His Majesty's coronation. The third collection comprises six stamps featuring photos of His Majesty making visits to his subjects across the country, the official said. The stamps will have a face value of Bt5. The release date for these was not disclosed. The official said people interested in the stamps could place a reserve order at post offices until May 7.
