Snubbed Thaksin comes home

Caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has returned home from his "personal" trip after the leaders of Malaysia and the Philippines turned down requests for a meeting with him next week.

Thaksin arrived in Thailand on a special flight from China yesterday afternoon, shortly after his wife Khunying Pojaman returned from the UK.

He began his trip last Sunday and met the leaders of the UK, France, Russia, Japan and China and had planned to extend his trip to meet the Filipino and Malaysian leaders but the requests were refused. The details of Thaksin's return were kept secret even to his security team.
