World Cup fever to kick off in the city

Another major event to arouse World Cup Fever in the country started yesterday when a group of four business partners launched the "Central Plaza Cheer World Match 2006" at Central Plaza Ladphrao.
Co-sanctioned by Central Plaza, Chang Beer, MasterCard (Thailand) and the Kom Chad Luek newspaper, the campaign will target local fans to become part of the world's biggest football tournament by holding a variety of sports activities before the games start in June. One of the most exciting events of the campaign is "One-million Free Kick", which is sponsored by Kom Chad Luek. The activity challenges anyone who is confident of their skills to shoot a free kick on a mini goal field. The winner will receive a top award valued at more than Bt1 million, including a Mazda BT-50 pick-up. "We also staged this event at the last World Cup in 2002. It was very successful as many readers joined the exciting competition," said Kom Chad Luek senior vice-president (marketing) Orapim Luang-on. "We hope it will be popular again and wish everybody joins in this entertaining event." Central Plaza and MasterCard (Thailand) are offering this marvellous promotion to their customers - whoever shops at Central Plaza branches and pays by MasterCard will have a chance to win the big prize valued at more than Bt2 million, including a luxurious package trip to Germany. "We are confident that MasterCard cardholders in Thailand will be excited about participating in this promotion as it gives them a much sought after opportunity to visit Germany," said Eileen Wee, MasterCard (Thailand) vice-president and country manager. Kom Chad Luek also provides many activities for readers including a lucky draw campaign. Readers of Kom Chad Luek can send in coupons every day and win many prizes valued at more than Bt9.5 million.
