"Daewoo Out of Burma" : Burmese protesters

A group of 30 Burmese staged a peaceful protest on Tuesday outside South Korean Embassy in Bangkok, calling on Daewoo International Corp to halt its multimillion baht exploration and production of natural gas in Burma.
They hold signs that read, "Daewoo Out of Burma." After a 30-minute demonstration, Choi Hyung-suk accepted a letter from protesters that denounced the venture as one the government's many efforts to exploit the country's people and natural resources for its own enrichment.
Choi told protesters that he would forward to complaint to his government in Seoul.
"Despite economic sanctions imposed by the United States and some European countries, the junta has been able to survive on the revenues derived from exporting the country's inexhaustible natural resources ... and offering slave or cheap labor to foreign companies," read the letter.
It added that revenue would be funneled to the junta and not help the country's impoverished people.
After the half and hour protest, special branch police invited the group to Huey Kwang police station to check their identity cards. Burmese under protection of the UN have been allowed to stay in Thailand but are prohibited to do any politically-related activities.
Mun U U told police that the activity has nothing involved with the politic and it was a peaceful activity.
