Water guns can cause eye injuries or blindness

Using high-power water guns during Songkran water fights could cause eye injuries and even blindness, Consumer Protection Board secretarygeneral Rassamee Wisawathawet warned on Wednesday.
The board has imposed a temporary ban on the sale of water guns made of plastic water mains. Rassamee said violators faced a maximum jail term of five years and/or a fine of Bt500,000. Police have seized thousands of the banned water guns, she added. Those injured by water shot from highpower guns can file assault charges, Rassame added. No such charges have been filed so far. Rassamee also cautioned motorists about wornout or remoulded tyres, saying they could burst from overheating during longdistance travel and cause fatal accidents. The Nation
