Fire breaks out at CP Tower

CP Tower on Silom Road was closed yesterday following a fire that broke out on the building's second floor early in the morning.

Police and fire engines arrived at the building following reports of thick smoke billowing out of the second floor at 4am, said Lieutenant Sanpetch Suwannakrai, of Thung Mahamek Police Station.

The cause of the fire is unknown but it is thought a Siam Commercial Bank ATM may have short-circuited. The building's sprinklers probably doused the fire by the time firefighters arrived, Sanpetch said.
