Former Democrat MP's son surrenders to face rape charge

A son of a former Democrat Party MP surrendered to police in Bangkok on Saturday to face a charge of raping a Burmese woman, police said.
Saengroj Kanjana, 36, denied he had raped a Burmese woman in Surat Thani in January. He denied he even knew the woman, whose name was withheld.Saengroj is a son of Chumpon, a former Democrat Party MP from Surat Thani. On January 29, a Burmese woman filed a complaint with Surat Thani police alleging Saengroj raped her and then detained her at gunpoint.
