Tired Thaksin goes shopping

Outgoing Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra yesterday went shopping with his family at Gaysorn Plaza and refused to answer reporters' questions, saying he needs a rest.
In the morning, Thaksin narrowly escaped an accident while driving out of the soi in front of his home. A taxi driver was forced to take evasive action and scraped his car against a power pole trying to avoid Thaksin's vehicle. Thaksin stopped the car, made sure the taxi driver wasn't injured, then asked his aide to help him. At Gaysorn Plaza, Thaksin met supporters who urged him to take another term as prime minister. An elderly woman hugged him and cried. Thaksin denied reports he intends to soon go on holiday in his home province of Chiang Mai or to the United Kingdom, saying he wanted a few days to tie up loose ends and would then play golf with Cabinet members over the next two weeks. Asked how he felt, Thaksin exclaimed: "Totally relieved." He dismissed any further questions.
