Boots Retail: Health and beauty store starts Bt10-million marketing drive

Boots Retail (Thailand) Ltd will spend Bt10 million on a new health campaign aimed at reinforcing its position in the beauty supplies and achieving double-digit sales growth this year.
Managing director Ian Hunter said that the company's "Change Just 1 Thing" campaign encourages health awareness. The campaign features focuses on 10 ways to improve health or stave off ailments, including stopping smoking, eating well, de-stressing, practising safe sex, ceasing drinking, getting fit and losing weight. Other targets include trying to look great, getting a set of healthy hair, and "mom's musts". The campaign includes marketing events, disseminating 200,000 booklets and ads in magazines, he said. - The Nation. Computer games: Market value to reach Bt1 billion Online game operators forecast that the market value of games will reach Bt1 billion this year thanks to an increasing number of people owning computers and more demand for high-speed Internet. The government project to encourage Thai students to make more use of computers will also increase market demand, according to Lertchai Kanphai, general manager of Asiasoft Ltd, operator of the "Ragnarok" online game. Siang Pure Oil: Company aims for younger buyers Bertram Chemical Co, the maker of Siang Pure Oil, will spend Bt57 million to expand its marketing to include both young and older consumers, said marketing director Suwanna Akrapongpisak. Cement Industry: Website launched for engineers Concrete Products and Aggregate Co Ltd (CPAC), the ready-mixed cement producer and a member of Siam Cement Group, has launched its www.cpacacademy.com website to provide a new generation of engineers with knowledge derived from real experience. The company is offering more value-added services, said managing director Annop Tegajarin. Its new services will be drive its sale growth to at least 10 per cent this year following growth of the 11 per cent last year over 2004. Airline sector: Finnair to expand to Kuala LumpurFinnair will start flying from Helsinki to Kuala Lumpur in May 2007. The route will operate three times a week via Bangkok. "As a thriving business city and breathtaking leisure destination, Kuala Lumpur naturally complements our Asian strategy," said Mike Perho, senior vice president of Finnair's commercial division. "Demand for Asian destinations is growing in both directions and we have excellent connections from all over Europe." - The Nation. Disease control: GM Foundation to provide SUVs The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention Foundation (CDC Foundation) and the GM Foundation announced a partnership that will provide CDC with vehicles for transporting critical supplies, personnel and equipment to hard-to-reach areas. Through the partnership, announced in conjunction with World Health Day on April 7, CDC will receive sport utility vehicles and light trucks in eight countries: Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Kenya, Angola, Tanzania, Uganda and South Africa.
