Who is that boy offering a wai at His Majesty the King's feet in this old but well-known photograph?
The answer might be uncovered thanks to a government-commissioned photographic exhibition to mark the 60th anniversary of the monarch's ascension to the throne, scheduled for May 26-June 4, at Impact Convention centre in northern Bangkok.
The hunt is on for people fea-tured in five photographs that are part of a series of 20 featuring the King.
The government wants to know who the people are and it hopes relatives or friends might be able to identify them.
People need only visit the exhibition to see if they recognise a person in the photos.
Anyone who thinks they know who the individuals in the photographs are should send information to PO Box 999, Bangkok, the project's coordinator Surapong Suebwonglee said yesterday.
If a positive identification is made, people in the pictures - or their relatives or descendants - will be interviewed for a television special entitled "Looking for Those in Pictures", to be broadcast on May 26, the first day of celebrations to mark the anniversary of the King's ascension.
Committee on Projects and Activities chairman Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said an exposition honouring the King would be divided into three elements and the first of these would be the pictorial exhibition at Impact's Challenger Hall.
It will feature images from the King's childhood, including toys he played with, and later his marriage and coronation.
The second element, which will be on display at Impact Halls 1-8, will feature projects the King has initiated and his achievements, mostly regarding agricultural projects, including water management and forestation works.
The third element, at Impact Arena, will be a grand musical entitled "King Maha Janaka" and will include seminars on related topics. Mementoes and memorabilia marking this special event would also be sold, Wissanu said.
