Student falls to her death

A Thammasat University student plunged to her death from an eighth-floor apartment in Bangkok's Bang Sue district yesterday, reportedly after quarrelling with her mother, police said.

Police found the body of Natthakorn Toepiti, 25, on the ground in front of Thiti Wongsawang Apartments.

An initial police investigation showed the student had jumped from the eighth floor, while her room was on the fifth floor.

Natthakorn's boyfriend, Nat-tapon Sermpon, 23, said she had left a note which suggested she was unhappy at her mother having separated from her husband.

He said Natthakorn had recently quarrelled with her mother on the telephone after she criticised her for not finishing her last year of study at Thammasat's Faculty of Law. Nattapon said she had also been distressed after her father was seriously injured in a recent shooting.
