Online MBA for entrepreneurs

The country's first online master's degree has been launched to allow entrepreneurs direct contact with professionals and reduce costs for students.
The Business Development Department inked the agreement with the Thai Chamber of Commerce University (UTCC) and Samart Telcoms to launch the MBA programme yesterday. Orajit Sihgkalvanich, the department's director-general, said the project was designed to create entrepreneurs and reduce bankruptcies among smaller enterprises. She said entrepreneurs who finish the MBA online programme would understand more of the theory and practicalities of business. The programme will encourage students to learn on their own and find the best way to survive in the globalised market. Pairote Varophas, executive vice chairman of Samart Telcoms, said the company hoped to see students from all across the country join the degree in the next two years. "The Internet and other new technologies will play a significant educational role in the near future," he said. He added that the company hoped to work with Assumption University to launch another online course. Thakol Nunthirapakorn, vice president for administration and business at the UTCC, said students could register this July and pay below the normal fees of Bt200,000 for an MBA at the university. Besides learning online, students will have a chance to participate in business seminars and complete internships.
