'No one paid us'

Seven small parties held a press conference yesterday to deny the Democrat Party's claim that the Thai Rak Thai Party had contracted them to run in the April 2 election.

"None of the parties was paid to contest the poll," said Kristhai Maankong Party chief Natchaphrom Nusti.

Pattana Chat Thai Party legal adviser Jaruphol Ruengket said his party might file a defamation lawsuit.

The Democrat Party, in sounding the alarm over campaign fraud singled out the Thai Ground Party for possible involvement, but did not talk about the seven parties at the press conference.
