TRT to sue Democrats
Thai Rak Thai Party executive Prommin Lertsuridej yesterday sued the Democrat Party for libel over claims the ruling party funded minor parties to contest the April 2 election.
He named Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva, his secretary-general Suthep Thuagsuban and spokesman Ong-art Klampaiboon as defendants. The defendants had tarnished his reputation by raising a false accusation of his alleged involvement in the matter, he said in a statement. The Criminal Court set May 22 for a hearing to rule on whether the case merits judicial review. Two other executives of the ruling party, Thamarak Isarangura and Pongsak Ruktapongpisal, are expected file separate lawsuits against the opposition party.
