Panel to mull farmers' debt

The Cabinet yesterday ordered government agencies to urgently set up a committee to consider debt compensation of Bt150 million to 1,500 farmers' organisations.

Acting deputy spokeswoman Sansanee Nakpong said the Cabinet agreed in principle to compensate farmer's bodies that had already transferred their debts to the Farmer Assistance Measurement and Development Fund.

The committee has to report back to the Cabinet within seven days. - The Nation.

Viset seeks Egat meeting today

Caretaker Energy Minister Viset Choopiban is reportedly seeking an urgent meeting with top executives of Egat Plc as well as other agencies today, ahead of the Supreme Administrative Court's ruling on Egat's initial public offering.

At the meeting, they are to brainstorm options on how to mitigate negative consequences on the state-owned power utility, if the court rules tomorrow that it cannot proceed with the IPO. - The Nation.

Bt1 bn in sales at Living in Style

"Living in Style 2006" by Sansiri Plc and its subsidiary Plus Property Plc last weekend sold 230 units valued at Bt1 billion, boosting first-quarter sales to Bt6 billion.

The company's managing director Srettha Thaweesin said that 10,000 visitors attended the three-day event at Siam Paragon.

Northwest's Asian air miles

Northwest Airlines announced yesterday that members of its WorldPerks frequent-flyer programme would be able to redeem their miles on Jetstar Asia Airways and its Valuair subsidiary.

The partnership will allow WorldPerks members residing in Asia (except Japan) to redeem miles on Jetstar Asia flights between Singapore and any of the 13 destinations Jetstar Asia serves. Mileage redemption levels are at 15,000, 20,000 or 25,000 miles, depending on destination. - The Nation.
