Those sparkling stars

It just wouldn't be Oscar night without diamonds and the stars didn't disappoint last Sunday night with the ladies positively dazzling at the 78th Annual Academy Awards.

Yet there was no overarching diamond trend and the biggest names in Hollywood all chose big, bold diamond pieces that perfectly reflected each woman's individual style.

Jennifer Aniston:

Cool and chic - She enhanced her sleek look with a stunning vintage 1920's double strand diamond necklace by Bugari.

Felicity Huffman:

Sophisticated - The "Transamerica" star went all out with $2 million (Bt80 million) worth of diamonds, but still maintained a clean, traditional look. Huffman wore a bracelet with 38 carats of round diamonds; pear shaped diamond drop earrings of seven carats; a 15 carat cushion cut diamond ring; a diamond "Gardenia" brooch in her hair made of more than 100 diamonds totalling 40 carats. All by Martin Katz.

Michelle Williams:

New diamond ingenue - The "Brokeback Mountain" sensation was a knockout in a 19th-century French diamond necklace and rose cut diamond right hand ring, both by Fred Leighton.

Nicole Kidman:

All about elegance - Kidman launched another trend with her custom-designed matching diamond bracelets of old-mine cut diamond bracelets totalling 131 carats. She also wore rose cut diamond earrings. All by Fred Leighton.

Jennifer Lopez:

The fashion forward icon - '50s and '60s diamond pieces accentuated Lopez's hip look. 1950s diamond and 18 carat diamond necklace; 1960s diamond and gold bracelet, 10 carats, 1960s diamond pendant earrings; rose cut diamond right hand ring. All by Fred Leighton.

Dolly Parton:

Sparkling - diamond briolette pendant earrings with old European cut diamonds of approximately 5.0 carats and briolette diamond drops of approximately 16.0 carats each; two vintage diamond bracelets (one from the 1930s, one from the 1920s); diamond chain necklace with approximately 47.8 carats of round brilliant cut diamonds; 10.58 carat antique cushion-cut diamond ring; 3.01 carat diamond ring; a pair of 1920s diamond flower clip brooches in platinum, a diamond bon-brooch; and a pair of 1930s diamond "string bean" brooches. All by Fred Leighton.

Charlize Theron:

The glamorous red carpet darling - The Oscar nominee sparkled in stylish and sophisticated fancy chandelier earrings totalling eight carats; three bracelets: fancy yellow diamond bracelet totalling 44 carats; a white and yellow diamond marquis-cut bracelet totalling 23 carats; and a diamond bracelet totalling 43 carats; All by Chopard.
