Asian student group backs local counterparts in drive to oust premier
The Student Federation of Asia will ask global student organisations to join forces to oust caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.Malay student Lee Kei Loon, secretary-general of the Student Federation of Asia, said at Sanam Luang on Monday that he was proud of those who fought for Thaksin's resignation, adding that his organisation would join the movement. "My federation will coordinate with worldwide student organisations and Thai students to oust Thaksin. "I call on democracy-loving people to march with me to the headquarters of the Royal Thai Police to lodge the complaint," he said in a statement yesterday. The election boycott was an anti-democratic offence under Article 63 of the Constitution and police should launch legal proceedings against it, he said. - The Nation.
