Crisis dividing families

The political crisis has made people more likely to follow the news but the current polarised situation is also dividing families, an Abac Poll said yesterday.
Almost 58 per cent of the 1,218 respondents surveyed in Bangkok last week said they had taken increased interest in the political situation in the past month and more than 76 per cent were following the news almost every day. About 28 per cent said their families had argued over issues like the role of the opposition parties, demonstrations, calls for the prime minister's resignation and his legitimacy, the poll said. Almost 17 per cent of those who reported arguments said they had severe quarrels, albeit without any physical violence. Some respondents said watching movies, listening to the radio and shopping were good ways to defuse the politically fuelled tensions at home.
