Princess's thesis work goes on show at Silpakorn
When she was a young girl, HRH Princess Siribha Chudhaborn loved drawing and visited HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's library to study the galaxy. Her interest in arts and the universe did not fizzle out and has inspiring at Silapakorn University. The Princess's art thesis "The Emperor of Dreams" is on display at the university's art faculty until March 18. The exhibition opened yesterday along with thesis works by 44 graduates. The princess's thesis reflects the interest in mysterious objects and the universe. She uses the animal bone structure, mostly from zodiac signs, to form her works. Her artwork examines the mysterious matter link with culture, belief, astrology, and even death. As she states in her abstract "Above all, by the time they (spectators) step out from the site ("Celestial Chamber"), I have intention of making them understand the beauty of death. That sometimes it may not be the end but the beginning at all beings." One needs to empty your mind while entering the exhibition to feel and be inspired by the atmosphere including temperature, visuals, smells, and sounds to appreciate her works. The environment may make an inspector feel as if the person is a wandering spirit in another side of the earth. To the princess, arts is "every aspect of life, the wheel of fortune, and a world of imagination, as she answered her instructor's assignment about the meaning of arts when she first enrolled at the university in 2001. Panya Vijinthanasarn, dean of the faculty and the princess' instructor Pishnu Supanimit, said they learnt about the young princess' talents from Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn who saw her niece drawing from young. Panya said the princess was a beloved friend thanks to her friendliness. Like others, the princess follows the faculty's tradition to be given a new nickname. Hers is "Bee-ju" (meaning Pui-fai: a kind of Thai dessert). To instructors, the princess is a determined student and shows strong interests in Lanna Culture. Her thesis proves her strong determination as she puts her hearts into it. Since 1971, Faculty of Painting Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University exhibits students art pieces to generate knowledge, comprehension, and creativity, this year there are all together 44 new graduates. upluthai PungkanonThe Nation
