Homeware and design take centre stage in Phuket

Published on January 31, 2005

Despite the devastating tsunami, Phuket remains an attractive destination for foreign visitors and expatriates alike, with opportunities for homeware and design companies. Home Show Asia is coming to Phuket to take advantage of this trend and promises to inspire thousands of home lovers to refine their living spaces when it appears at the Royal Phuket City Hotel from March 25-27.

Phuket organiser YSMO Events is organising the fair in conjunction with the Phuket Gazette. More than 90 of Thailand’s homeware, interior- and exterior-design and decor specialists will gather under one roof over three days to showcase the latest in contemporary Asian living. From soft furnishings to high-end furniture to state-of-the-art lighting, there will be something to suit every style and taste.

Gareth Twist, managing director of YSMO Events, said the exhibition was being introduced to Thailand in response to burgeoning demand for homeware and design services, intensified by the recent property boom.

“More island residents, both Thai and expatriate, than ever before want to create living spaces that enrich their lifestyle,” he says. “Home Show Asia will showcase high-quality products, services and designs that are available now from around Thailand.”

John Magee, publisher of the Phuket Gazette, pointed out that last year’s economic fundamentals – all of what has made Phuket so attractive to the world – were not, in fact, wiped out by the tsunami.

Home Show Asia recognises this and will deliver good value to exhibitors, visitors and indeed all of Phuket, he said.
